2007 MDA Rock-a-Thon ROCKIN’ ON CLOSER TO A CURE!

The 2007 “MDA Rock-a-Thon” was presented by the confirmation students of Trinity South Newstead, Trinity Wolcottsville and St. John’s Akron.

   The youth volunteered to continue the mission begun by Trinity South Newstead 18 years ago to support research of muscular dystrophy on behalf of Trinity’s South Newstead member, Joshua Schmidt. Over the past 18 years almost $125,000 has been raised for Muscular Dystrophy research. We are very excited to have hosted this brand new event to further the commitment to curing Muscular Dystrophy.

   On November 10, 2007, we had close to 50 people rocking over a fourteen hour period. Rockers collected individual pledges. Several local artists donated their time to decorate eight of the twenty rocking chairs. At the conclusion of the Rock-a-Thon event, the rocking chairs were auctioned. All proceeds from the pledges and the rocker auction has gone to benefit muscular dystrophy research. Monies are still being received on behalf of the Rock-a-Thon and we hope to reach almost $7,000!. Over the course of the day, various activities took place, including games, entertainment, prize "give-aways", and of course food.

   We also had the "Child Identification Program" provided by Masonic Lodge #1175, Fellowship Lodge.
